All SPH Music Concert 2019

Amongst all the creatures, God granted humans the capacity and creativity to develop arts, music, and culture. Music, arts, and culture reflect God as the Creator of beauty and harmony in diversity. From time to time, people from all around the world continue to celebrate music and arts as part of God’s common grace. Without them, our lives will be utterly colorless and uninspiring.

The diversity of music and arts were evident at All SPH Music Concert by five Sekolah Pelita Harapan campuses. All SPH Music Concert was held on Saturday, February 9, 2019, at SPH Lippo Village Gymnasium 1. This concert brought all five campuses together: SPH Lippo Village, Sentul City, Lippo Cikarang, Kemang Village and Pluit Village. Mr. David Hamot, SPH Lippo Village Ministering Arts Director, explained why this combined-concert was held:

“The aim of this concert is to celebrate students’ gifts and to bring fellowship among SPH schools across Jakarta. So tonight, we want to bring the best out of our students. We are glad to be able to do this concert again after a couple of years. And we hope that from this concert, [students] are more encouraged by seeing everyone tonight from all SPH campuses.”

What also made this concert unique was the variety of performances that displayed students’ diverse talents such as ballet, modern dance, handbells, symphony orchestra, traditional music, choirs, and bands. It also covered a wide range of music genres, from classical music like “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” by J. S. Bach to traditional Indonesian songs like “Arbab”, “Sipatokaan”, and “Janger”; from children folk-songs to popular songs such as “I Feel Good”. The concert reached its climactic conclusion when all five campus choirs and bands joined together to sing “How Great is Our God”.

In the end, it was not only about great performances but also about giving back the glory to God who is the giver of our talents. Most importantly, this concert brought all SPH families together, which created a very special experience for everyone who joined.

As our school theme for the year describe, this combined concert was evidence of how we are “better together”. We thank God for the success of this concert, and we hope to see many more All SPH music concerts in the years to come!
