It’s easy for any school to teach their students. But to simultaneously instill that deep-seated sense of purpose in our pursuit of knowledge is what I believe distinguishes the SPH experience from others.

SPH gave me the platform to explore my essence, mentally & spiritually. To think critically, feel deeply, speak clearly, and act lovingly, as I stay true to who I am. If I have kids, I hope I will be able to send them to SPH. What a blessing it will be to offer the future generation what I was able to graciously experience.

Arriving in 2005 with limited English, I struggled academically, especially with History HL. However, supportive teachers helped me overcome difficulties, understand context without knowing every word, and convey messages with a limited vocabulary. Additionally, my daily bus commute to and from school exposed me to diverse social realities, sparking my social and life calling. A pivotal moment was a conversation with Mr. Brian Cox during a G12 retreat. His message, "Just Give Up," initially puzzled me, but he explained that SPH's education emphasizes relying on Christ's strength, not our own. As an SPH alumnus working in government and politics for 11 years, I reflect on the vision and mission instilled in me: to proclaim the pre-eminence of Christ and engage in the redemptive restoration of all things in Him through holistic education. This lesson is a cornerstone of my gratitude for SPH's impact on my life.

My time at SPH truly impacted me, and one of the highlights was the caring teachers and community. When I was at SPH, I was a delinquent student, to say the least. I never really listened to my teachers and often fell asleep in class. I now realize that even though I did not listen, a lot of teachers paid attention to me and cared for me. SPH is not a place that expels or rejects you. Instead, it is a community that pursues you because they truly care. They invite you back in to restore you. For example, Mr. Brian Cox, a former Head of School, was my ethics teacher. I once asked a rebellious question in his class. He didn’t shun me but instead invited me for coffee in his office to talk.

I am particularly grateful for the depth and practical application of the curriculum, which equipped me with the skills necessary to succeed. Moreover, SPH’s emphasis on Christian values provided a solid moral compass that has guided me throughout my life. Beyond academics, SPH has developed a holistic approach to education, focusing on character development, work ethic, and overall well-being. This comprehensive education proved invaluable as I progressed through university, earned a master’s degree, and ultimately ventured into entrepreneurship. SPH’s influence is evident in every aspect of my life, and I am truly thankful that SPH has played a huge role in shaping me into who I am today.

After spending 14 years of my life at SPH Lippo Village, I pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Biola University and a Master of Science in Organizational Psychology from City St. George's, University of London. Currently, I lead DEUS Human Capital Services, a startup dedicated to strategic HR management that serves diverse human resources needs across Indonesia. A highlight of my entrepreneurial journey is developing Indonesia's first locally based gamified HR assessments.

This foundation was instrumental in preparing me for the demanding academic environment at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia, where I pursued my medical degree and eventually became a General Practitioner. SPH not only provided a strong academic foundation but also nurtured my spiritual growth. The emphasis on faith at SPH helped me build resilience and maintain a positive outlook during challenging times. This aspect of my education has been invaluable, providing me with strength and guidance throughout my medical career. In addition to academic and spiritual development, SPH played a crucial role in honing my research skills and English proficiency. The ability to communicate effectively in English and conduct thorough research has been critical in my career. These skills have allowed me to engage with a global audience, including working with prestigious organizations such as Doctors Without Borders and Oxford University. My research work has been recognized internationally, with over 43 publications and more than 175 citations. Currently, I am a resident in the Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Department at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia. The diverse experiences and solid foundation provided by SPH have been instrumental in my journey, enabling me to contribute to the global medical community.

At SPH Sentul City, I learned to think creatively and approach problems from various perspectives. The school also instilled in me a deep appreciation for the role of faith in navigating life's challenges. My time there was crucial in helping me understand myself better, recognize my strengths and weaknesses, and develop strategies to overcome them. Now, working in the film and media industry with professionals from Indonesia and beyond, I find the skills and values I acquired at SPH to be invaluable. I am profoundly grateful to be an alumnus of SPH Sentul City and cherish the memories of my time there. The entire community, from teachers to support staff, contributed to my growth and remains an integral part of my journey.

We are also trained in how to write essays, give presentations, and answer exam questions which have helped a lot in university. Another strong point of SPH is the bond between teachers and students that feels different from other schools. The teachers are always giving their best effort and always try to make the learning interactive for their students. Teachers are always available, anytime, and they are always there to support students.

SPH has watched my entire growth since I was a pioneer student of SPH Kemang Village in the 2nd grade. There was constant support and love ever since. I knew they looked out for me, cared for me, and that I could talk to anyone. I never once felt scared to voice my opinion or how I was feeling to any of the teachers. Especially in my IBDP years, I have been supported by my IB coordinator and teachers, given the challenge of managing IB. My counselor helped me a lot, and although it wasn’t easy, they all have guided me through.

The Christian faith foundation at SPH Kemang Village profoundly shaped my values and worldview. It guided me through my college years and personal struggles, providing a solid base for my faith journey. As I advance in my studies and future career in education, I plan to integrate these values by reflecting the love of Jesus Christ in all my endeavors. My goal is to spread God's love and positively impact the communities I serve. After completing my master’s degree at UPenn, I aim to work as an educational policy lawyer in the US or as an educator in Indonesia. Drawing on my experiences at SPH Kemang Village, UC San Diego, and UPenn, I am dedicated to using my knowledge and Christ-like values to champion equity and social justice in education. My overarching ambition is to contribute to the betterment of education by advocating for fairness and empowering future generations.
