A Decade of Partnership: Finding a Second Home at SPH Kemang Village

Ten years ago, I walked into an Open House at SPH Kemang Village with a question that was weighing heavily on my heart. As a mother of two—including a daughter with special needs who attends a different school—I knew that life isn't always a smooth path. I asked the admissions team directly: “What happens if a student struggles academically? Will this school be a ‘fair-weather friend,’ or will you stand by them?”

The reassurance I received that day—that every effort would be made to support and carry a struggling student—was the beginning of a decade-long journey of trust.

The reassurance I received that day—that every effort would be made to support and carry a struggling student—was the beginning of a decade-long journey of trust.

At first, I chose SPH Kemang Village for practical reasons: it was close to home, and the "high-rise" campus felt surprisingly cozy, filled with natural light and a sense of warmth. While the Christian foundation was a nice addition, it wasn’t my primary driver. However, looking back now that my daughter, Josepha, is in Senior School, I see things differently. I’ve realized that the Biblical values she receives here are the very things helping her flourish, building a resilience and character that academics alone could never provide.

One of the most beautiful "accidents" of our time here happened in Grade 1. SPH provided a free Strings Program, and the classroom happened to be right in Josepha’s path. One day, my six-year-old looked at me and said, “I want to do violin! You cannot say no—it’s right in front of my classroom!”

Had the school not placed that opportunity literally at her doorstep, her musical talent might have gone entirely unnoticed. Today, I am forever grateful for those dedicated teachers who noticed a spark in her and encouraged her to explore a passion that has become a major part of her identity.

Over the last ten years, I’ve watched the school grow alongside my daughter. I’ve seen the arrival of the Learning Support Hub, the new library, and the renovated fitness center. But more importantly, I’ve experienced a school that truly lives up to its motto, “A Second Home.” I have always felt listened to, both by the teachers and the administration.

We came for the proximity, but we stayed for the partnership. I am confident that SPH KV will continue to be a place where children are not just "students," but individuals who are seen, supported, and loved.
