Witnessing My Children Grow in their Love for Learning and Confidence

Mrs. Carlis

Parent of Liam (K1) & Levin (K3)

SPH Pluit Village

My name is Carlis Taslim, and I am the mother of two boys, Liam and Levin. Liam is currently in Kindergarten 1 (K1), while Levin is in Kindergarten 3 (K3). Both of my children have been part of the SPH Pluit Village community since their early years. As a family, we value not only academic excellence but also character development, and SPH has been an important partner in supporting our children’s growth during these formative years.

At the beginning, like many young children, Liam and Levin experienced some natural challenges in adjusting to a new school environment. This included building confidence, expressing themselves openly, and adapting to structured routines, especially in a bilingual and multicultural setting. As parents, we also wondered how they would cope socially and emotionally in a school setting.

We have seen remarkable growth in both of our children. They have become more confident, independent, and curious learners.

Levin has shown significant improvement in leadership, responsibility, and communication skills, while Liam has grown more comfortable expressing himself and engaging with friends and teachers. Both boys now show a genuine love for learning and are more confident in trying new things.

The teachers and school community at SPH have been incredibly supportive and attentive. The teachers consistently show patience, care, and genuine interest in each child’s development. What stood out most for us was the strong communication between teachers and parents, as well as how teachers intentionally nurture each child’s strengths while gently supporting areas that need growth. Our children feel safe, valued, and encouraged every day at school.

As our children continue their journey at SPH, we hope they will grow not only academically but also in character, faith, and compassion. We hope they will continue to develop confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of responsibility, while maintaining a joyful love for learning. We believe SPH provides a strong foundation that will prepare them well for the future.
