Our Alumni: A Lasting Legacy

"I spent seven formative years at Sekolah Pelita Harapan, from Grade 6 through Grade 12, graduating in 2004. Those years shaped not only my academic foundation, but also my sense of identity, values, and community. Professionally, I am the founder of Innergrowth, a company offering counseling and coaching services. I also served as a career counselor at SPH Lippo Village for seven years, supporting students and incoming graduates as they navigated their next steps beyond SPH. Today, I am the President of the SPH Alumni Association and a parent within the SPH community, which allows me to engage with the school from multiple meaningful perspectives. Being an SPH alum carries a shared culture and camaraderie that is immediately recognizable. There is a common thread among us—articulate communication, leadership values, and a spirit of excellence, often expressed through academics, service, and athletics. Whenever I meet a fellow SPH alumnus, there is an instant connection, often marked by slipping into bahasa gado-gado and reminiscing about teachers who poured into our lives (as well as the ones we annoyed!) We deeply value our educators and many of us stay connected long after graduation. The SPH Alumni Network exists to foster these lifelong connections. Our mission is threefold: to reconnect alumni with one another and with former teachers and staff; to build community through shared interests such as ultimate frisbee, volleyball, tennis, and more; and to create pathways for mature alumni to mentor and support younger graduates as they navigate career and life. Staying connected means growing together, across generations."

Hear from Our Alumni

In SPH, we’re stretched beyond the shallowness of memorizing syllabuses. We’re encouraged to lift up our eyes from textbook pages to the world unfolding around us to probe the question: How can we use what we know to help others?  It’s easy for any school to teach their students. But to simultaneously instill that deep-seated sense of purpose in our pursuit of knowledge is what I believe distinguishes the SPH experience from others.

SPH really taught us not only what to think but how to think, which is really important. SPH doesn’t only focus on academics but also on personal development in terms of character building through a lot of one-on-one sessions with our teachers. These helped our efforts in developing ourselves to be agents of change who will positively impact those around us.

The curriculum taught in SPH LC, specifically the IB curriculum, has given me the opportunity to choose any subjects offered by the school, giving us the freedom to study what we actually enjoy learning about. We were also trained to write essays, give presentations, and answer exam questions, which proved beneficial in university. Another strong point of SPH was the bond between teachers and students, which was different from any other school. The teachers always gave their best effort and sought to make learning interactive for their students. They were available at any time, ready to support their students.
