Sekolah Pelita Harapan: Your Best-fit International Kindergarten and Preschool in Jakarta

The first six years of a child’s life are a critical period of development, laying the foundation for their future. At Sekolah Pelita Harapan (SPH), we offer an exceptional preschool in Jabodetabek with a comprehensive Early Childhood Education program for children ages 1-6.

Our program emphasizes play-based learning, focusing on six key areas of development: spiritual formation, communication and language, physical development, personal, social, and emotional development, cognitive development, and expressive arts and design. Each level is designed to be age-appropriate, honing the most important skills at every developmental stage.

In the early years, we ensure that children enjoy their learning journey while forming lasting friendships that will benefit them throughout their school and adult lives. Through play-based learning, children explore their environment, learn about themselves and others, and engage in sensory activities, speaking and listening exercises, role-play, early literacy, and outdoor learning. We encourage them to try new things and build confidence through specially designed learning activities.

Redefining Play-based Learning (PBL) for a Brighter Future

Sekolah Pelita Harapan (SPH) is on a mission to refine our approach to fostering holistic development, nurturing independence, and igniting curiosity in every child. Using the EYFS (Early Years Foundational Stage) framework and a play-based approach as our foundation, we are redefining several key aspects that support the learning experience.

This includes re-examining learning outcomes, curriculum, personnel, teaching methods, schedules, learning spaces, and many other areas to ensure a more enriching and effective educational journey.

Through individualized guided play, one of our approaches to Early Childhood Education, we combine the benefits of free play and structured learning—the best of both worlds, just for your child!

Our redefined Play-Based Learning (PBL) will include:

1. Holistic Development Focus

At SPH, we prioritize every child’s emotional, social, physical, spiritual, and cognitive well-being. Our commitment to nurturing each child’s unique strengths ensures that they receive comprehensive support tailored to their individual potential.

2. Guided Playtime for Effective Learning

We believe in the power of guided play, where children take the lead in their learning journey with the gentle support of our experienced teachers. This approach allows for personalized development, ensuring that each child’s unique needs are met while they engage in meaningful, self-directed play.

3. STEAM Integration for a Holistic Worldview

Our curriculum emphasizes exploration through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) integrated activities. By incorporating these disciplines, we prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century, fostering a holistic worldview and essential skills.

4. Preparation for Lifelong Learning

Our redefined Play-Based Learning (PBL) approach cultivates independence and curiosity in students, laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning. We focus on developing vital communication skills, critical thinking abilities, collaborative mindsets, and creativity, all rooted in internationally recognized standards.
