Learning Support

Our teachers go the extra mile by extending their support beyond the classroom. We provide individualized support programs in various areas that cater to each student’s needs.

Additional Learning Support

The Learning Support Team (LST) works closely with teachers and parents to ensure that specific student learning needs are met.

A collaborative framework is developed enabling interventions as early as possible, so new methods of learning are positioned to allow students to cope in class.

LST supports the different needs and skills set of each student to learn effectively in class.

English as Additional Language

ESL & ESLI Program

SPH provides English as a Second Language Support Programs to students from Grades 1 – 6 through two modes:

ESL (English as Second Language) is a language support program addressing more specific English needs for students from different countries and language backgrounds. In the entrance test, the Learning Support Team evaluates language skills including English to ensure that they are able to communicate or understand in class. The ESL program assists students so they can better participate in their daily classes.

ESLI (English as Second Language Immersion) is an immersion program that provides concentrated support for Grades 2 – 5 students with very limited English skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. ESLI aims to accelerate students’ acquisition of the target language. They must already be able to read in their first language and have a working knowledge of the English alphabet, including the sounds of the letters.
